The correct Answer is:
A, B

`h=50m, m=1.8x10^5kg`
`P=100 watt`
P.E=mgh`
`=1.8xx10^5xx9.8xx50`
`=882xx10^5J`
Because half the potetnial energy is converted into electricital energy.
Electircal energy `=1/2P.E. =441xx10^5J/hr`
So, power in watt(J/sec)`=(441xx10^5)`
`:.` Number of 100 W lamps, that can be lit `
(441xx10^5)/(3600xx100)=122.5~~122`

Water falling from a 50m high fall is to be used for generating electric power. If 1.8xx10^(5)kg of water falls per hour and half the gravitational potential energy can be converted into electric energy, how many 100 watt lamps can be lit ?

In generation of hydroelectric power, water falls from some height and gravitational potential energy of water is converted into electric power with the help of turbine. In one such event, 7.2xx10^4kg of water falls per hour from height 100m and half of the gravitational potential energy is converted into electric energy. How much power is generated?

A dam is used to block the passage of a river and to generate electricity. Approximately 5.73xx10^(4) kg of water fall each second through a height of 19.6 m. If one half of the gravitational potential energy of the water were converted to electrical energy, how much power would be generated ?

Answer true or false. Falling water can be used to produce electrical energy.
