A block of mass 5 kg executes simple harmonic motion under the restoring force of a spring. The amplitude and the time period of the motion are 0.1 m and 3.14 s respectively. Fnd the maximum force exerted by the spring on the block.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The maximum force exerted on the block is kA when the block is at the extreme position.
The angular frequency `omega=(2pi)/T=2s^-1`
The spring constant `=k=momega^2`
`=(5kg)(4s^-2)=20Nm^-1`
maximum force `=kA=(20Nm^-1)(0.1m)=2N`
