A body of mass 0.4kg starting at origin ...

A body of mass `0.4kg` starting at origin at `t=0` with a speed of `10ms^(-1)` in the positive x-axis direction is subjected to a constant `F=8` N towards negative x-axis. The position of body after 25s is

A

`-6000m`

B

`-8000m`

C

`4000m`

D

`7000m`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Constant force=8N
Mass of body=0.4 kg
We know that, F=ma
`8=0.4xxa`
`impliesa=(8)/(0.4)=-20m//s^(2)`
From equation of motion,
`s=ut+(1)/(2)at^(2)`
`=10xx25+(1)/(2)xx(-20)xx(25)^(2)`
`=250-10xx625=-6000m`
