The basicity of aniline is less than that of cyclohexylamine. This is due to :

A

`+R-` effect of `-NH_(2)` group

B

`-I-` efect of `-NH_(2)` group

C

`-R-` effect of `-NH_(2)` group

D

hyperconjugation effect

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Due to +R-effect of `-NH_(2)` group, `-NH_(2)` group donates the electron to the benzene ring, which is delocalised inside the ring resulting the less availability of lone pair of electron on N-atom for protonation. Therefore, aniline is less basic than cyclohexylamine.
