The frequency and intensity of a light s...

The frequency and intensity of a light source are both doubled. Consider the following statements
A. The saturation photocurrent remains almost the same
B. The maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons is double

A

Both (I) and (II) are correct

B

Both (I) and (II) are incorrect

C

Only (I) is incorrect

D

None of the above

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

The saturation photocurrent (i) depends on intensity (l) of light i.e., `I prop l.`
So, when intensity changes, the saturation current also changes. Hence, the statement (l) false.
The maximum kinetic energy depends upon the frequency of light. So , the kinetic energy is doubled when frequency is doubled.
Hence , option (b) is false
