The angle between the pair of straight l...

The angle between the pair of straight lines `y^2sin^2theta-xysin^2theta+x^2(cos^2theta-1)=0` is

A

`pi//3`

B

`pi//4`

C

`pi//6`

D

`pi//2`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The given equation is `x^2(cos^2theta-1)-xysin^2theta+y^2sin^2theta=0`
Here ,`a=cos^2theta-1,h=-(1)/(2)sin^2theta, b=sin^2theta`
Now, `a+b=cos^2theta+sin^2theta-1=1-1=0`
`therefore` The angle between the pair of straight lines is `(pi)/(2)`.
