The equation of one of the lines represe...

The equation of one of the lines represented by the equation `pq(x^2-y^2)+(p^2-q^2)xy=0`, is

A

`px+qy=0`

B

`px-qy=0`

C

`p^2x+q^2y=0`

D

`q^2x-p^2y=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

We have , `pq(x^2-y^2)+(p^2-q^2)xy=0`....(i)
`rArr pqx^2-pqy^2+p^2xy-q^2xy=0`
`rArr pqx^2-q^2xy-pqy^2+p^2xy=0`
`rArr qx(px-qy)+py(-qy+px)=0`
`rArr (px-qy)(qx+py)=0`
`therefore px-qy=0` is one of the lines represented by Eq.(i).
