The equation `xy+a^2=a(x+y)` represents

A

a two perpendicualr lines

B

a pair of straight lines

C

two parallel straight lines

D

None of the above

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

We have , `xy+a^2=a(x+y)`
`rArr xy+a^2-ax-ay=0`
`rArr ax-xy+ay-a^2=0`
`rArr x(a-y)-a(a-y)=0`
`rArr (a-y)=0 and (x-a)=0`
`therefore y=a and x=a`
So, these represent a pain of perpendicular straight lines.
