The equation of the tangent to the curve...

The equation of the tangent to the curve `y=x+4/(x^(2)),`l thant is parallel to the X-axis, is

A

`y=0`

B

`y=1`

C

`y=2`

D

`y=3`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Given `y=x+4/(x^(2))` ………….i
`implies(dy)/(dx)=1-8/(x^(3))`
Since the tangent is parallel to X-axis, therefore
`(dy)/(dx)=0impliesx^(3)=8impliesx=23`
Then from Eq i`y=3`
