The general solution of `cos^2 theta=cos^2alpha is theta= n pi +-alpha, n in Z`.
Now, `4cos^2x=1`
`therefore cos^2x=(1)/(4)=((1)/(2))^2`
`therefore cos^2x=(cos.(pi)/(3))^2 " "........[because cos.(pi)/(3)=(1)/(2)]`
`thereforecos^2x=cos^2.(pi)/(3)`
`therefore` The required general solution is given by `x=n pi +-(pi)/(3), n in Z`.
