Mond's process : Impure Ni is heated in a stream of carbon monoxide `(CO)`, to form gaseous volatile nickel tetra carbonyl complex of nickel `Ni(CO)_(4)`.
`Ni_((s))+4CO_((g))overset(" 330 - 350 K")rarr Ni(CO)_(4(g))`
On heating to `450-470K`, complex decomposes to give pure nickel.
`Ni(CO)_(4(g))overset("405 - 470 K") rarr Ni_((s))+4CO_((g))`
