Ambidentate ligand : A ligand molecule or an ion which has two or more donor atoms, however in the formation of a complex, only one donor atom is attached to the metal atom or an ion is called ambidentate ligand. For example, `NO_(2)^(-)` which has two donor atoms N and O forming a coordinate bond. `M larr ONO` (nitrito) or `M larr NO_(2)` (nitro).
