What are the applications of the principle of depression in freezing point ?

The applications of the principle of depression in freezing point are :
(1) In cold countries the frozen ice on roads and footpaths during winter is melted by spraying salts like sodium chloride or `CaCl_(2)` which depresses the freezing point of water.
(2) De-icing of aeroplances and airports is carried out by using salts.
(3) Ethylene glycol is used as a common automobile antifreeze since it is nonvolatile and soluble in water. Therefore it is also used as coolant in automobile radiators.
