X linked inheritance is also called criss-cross inheritance.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Criss-cross inheritance is the type of inheritance in which the genes are passed on from father to daughter and then to her son, i.e. from male to female and from female to male (grandson). In other words, it also said that the transmission is from the grandfather to his grandson through his daughter. In case of X chromosomes, it is always passed from mother to son. Similarly, father gives his X chromosome to daughters and not to his sons. Therefore, characters located on X chromosomes always follow a path of criss-cross inheritance.
