(1)Lac is the resin like substance secreted from the dermal glands of the female of tacchardia lacca or lac insect.(2)Lac insect feeds on succulent vegetation of trees such as ber,peepul gets harded upon exposure to air.(3)This is natural lac which is conataminated.It is washed and filtered to get shellac in pure form.(4)Practising lac culture is of economical benefit for the farmer.(5)For the purpose of getting regular supply of good quality and quantity of lac,artificial inoculation of plants is done.(6)Since lac insect is a native of iindia,about85% of the total lac is produced in india.
