Basic steps involved recombinant DNA technology.
1. Isolating genomic DNAS of a cell or organism from which the required gene is taken.
2. Fragmenting the DNA using enzymes (molecular scissors).
3. Screening the fragments for a desired gene.
4. Inserting the fragments with desired genes into a cloning vectors or so as to develop a recombinant DNA or chimeric DNA.
5. Introducing the recombinant vector into competent host cell.
