What are the types of nerves according to their functions?

According to their functions, the nerves are of three types, viz. sensory nerves, motor nerves and mixed nerves.
1. Sensory nerves: Sensory nerves or afferent nerves. They conduct impulses from sense organs to CNS.
2. Motor nerves: Motor nerves or efferent nerves conduct nerve impulses from CNS to effectors or motor organs.
3. Mixed nerves : Mixed nerves have sensory as well as motor nerve fibres and cary nerve impulse both ways.
