When there is proliferative phase in uterus, at ethe same time in ovaries there is follicular phase. The follicular phase of ovaries is due to effect of FSH from adenohypophysis. The ovarian follicles grow due to FSH and start secreting estrogen. When estrogen is secreted, the uterine wall is proliferated and hence it is called proliferative phase.
