(a) Need for the conservation of endangered species :
(1) Due to loss of habitat, many species are endangered. By conserving them one can maintain the ecosystem balance.
(2) Because the natural balance is already disturbed, the conser-vation is a must to restore it back.
(3 ) Conservations maintain ecological process and life support system for all the species of liVing beings.
(4) Conservation preserves the rich and varied biodiversitywhich is essential for economic and social development.
(b) Importance of PUC certificate:
(1) PUC certificate is mandatory for all the vehicles and indus- tries because it helps to combat' air pollution.
(2) In the automobiles, there is incomplete combustion of fuels which leads to hazardous gaseous effluents such as CO, hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides, etc. These if unchecked can lead to more air pollution.
(3) Due to industrial pollution, there is emission of `SO_(2)` in the air. This gas is dangerous for life as well as for materials and property. `SO_(2)` causes discolouration and physical deterioration of building materials and sculptures. It also affects vegetation and is capable of causing irritation to respiratory systems of animals and human.
(4) Excessive heat generated by machines can also cause thermal pollution and global warming. In order to have control measures on all such hazards, PUC certificate has been made mandatory.
