A metal ball of mass 5 kg falls from a height of 490 m. How much time will it take to reach the ground ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Data : s = 490 m, a =g= `9.8 m//s^(2)`
u = 0 m/s , ` s = ut = 1/2 at^(2)`
` 490 = 0xx t + 1/2 xx 9.8 xx t^(2) = 4.9 t^(2)`
` t^(2) = 490 / 4.9 = 100`
t= 10 s This is the required time.
