Derivation And Characteristics

In mathematics, the calculus function derivative is used to show the rate of change in the function of a set of variables. At any given point, derivative helps us to find the amount at which a function is changing. This derivative is the core function of the concept tool of calculus. For instance, the derivative function in the concept of Calculus helps in measuring the sensitivity to the change in the quantity of a variable concerning the quantity of another variable.

This concept of derivative of a function can be considered as one of the main concepts of calculus in mathematics. This concept of derivatives, along with the concept of integrations forms the basic concept of mathematics. While the process of deriving the formula, derivation is called differentiation, the inverse of such operation is known as integration.

The characterization of the rate of change of a function at a particular point of time is called as the formulation of the derivative at that particular point of time. In order to formulate this derivation process, we need to estimate the rate of change, first by calculating the ratio of change of the function delta Y to the change in the independent variable delta X.
