Sparingly Soluble Salts - Solubility Equilibria, Product Constants

At a certain temperature, if a solute is added in increasing amounts to a specific amount of solvent at a certain temperature, then after some time, a stage is reached when some amount of the solute remains undissolved, no matter how vigorously you mix.

A solution that remains in contact with the undissolved solute is referred to as a saturated solutionAt a saturated stage, the amount of the solute dissolved is always constant for the given amount of a particular solvent at a specific temperature.

If the solute is an electrolyte, then its ionization occurs in solution and the degree of dissociation depends on the concentration of dissolved electrolyte at a particular temperature.
