A radoactive sample of ^(238)U decay to ...

A radoactive sample of `^(238)U` decay to pb through a process for which the half is `4.5 xx 10^(9)` year Find the rate of number of nuclei of `pb to ^(238)U`after a time of `1.5 xx 10^(9)` year Given `(2)^(19)= 1.26`

The correct Answer is:
B

`a = initial Uranium atom`
`(a - x) = Uranium atom left
` ( a - x) = a((1)/(2))^(n)`
`and n = (1)/(t_(1//2)) = (1.5 xx 10^(9))/(4.5 xx 10^(9)) = (1)/(3)`
`:. A - x = a (1)/(2)^(1//3)`
`rArr (a)/(a- x) = (1)/((1//2)^(1//3)) = (2^(1//3))/(1) = 1.26`
`rArr (x)/(a - x) = 1.26 - 1 = 0.26`
