(a) Hydrometallurgy : The process of extraction of metal by dissolving the ore in suitable reagent followed by precipitation or displacement of metal by more electropositive metal is known as hydrometallurgy.
(b) Electrometallurgy : The process of extraction of metal by electrolysis of their fused salt is known as electrometallurgy. This method is used for the extraction of highly reactive metal like Na, Ca, Al etc.
