Explanation

1. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the caw,ing agent of AIDS.
2. Virus attacks the immune system and leaves the body vulnerabk to a variety of life threatening opportunistic infection.
3. HIV has been found in saliva, tears, nervous system tissue and spinal fluid, blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk.
4. Transmission of HIV occurs by sexual contact, through blood and blood products and by contami- nated syringes, needles etc.
5. HIV infection is not spread by casual contact such as hugging, bite of mosqu.itoes or using other objects touched by patient.
