Two blocks shown in figure are connected by a heavy uniform rope of mass `4 kg`. An upward force of `200 N` is applied as shown
(a) What is the acceleration of the system .
(b)What is the tension at the rop of the rop ?
( c) What is the tension at the mid- point of the rop
`(Take g = 9.8 m//s^(2))`

Text Solution

(a) `a = ("Net pulling force")/("Total mass")`
`=(200 - 16 xx 9.8)/(16)`
`= 2.7 m//s^(2)`
(b) `200 - 50 - T_(1) = 5a`
:. `T_(1) = 200 - 5 xx 2.7 - 50`
`= 136.5 N`

(c ) `T_(2) - 9 g = 9a`

`:. T_(2) = 9 (g + a)
`= 9(9.8 + 2.7)`
`= 112.5 N`
