The hydraulic press shown in the figure ...

The hydraulic press shown in the figure is used to raise the mass M through a height of `0.5 cm` by performing `500J` of work at the small piston. The diameter of the large piston is `10cm`, while that of the smaller one is `2 cm`. The mass M is

A

`100kg`

B

`10^(6)kg`

C

`10^(3)kg`

D

None of these

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Diameter of left hand side is `(1)/(5)` times. So area will be `(1)/(25)` times.
`Deltap_(LHS) =Delta p_(RHS)implies (F)/((A//25))=((Mg))/(A)`
`:. F=(Mg)/(A)`
Equating the volumes
Displacement of `LHS=5` times
Displacement of RHS
`:. S=(5)(0.5)=2.5cm`
`:. (500)=((Mg)/(25))(2.5xx10^(-2))`
`:. M=5xx10^(4)kg` (with `g=10m//s^(2)`.

Shows a hydraulic press with the larger piston of diameter 35cm at a height of 1.5 m relative to the smaller piston of diameter 10cm. The mass on the smaller piston is 20gk. What is the force exerted on the load by the lerger piston ? The density of oil in the press is 750 "kgm"^(-3).

A hydraulic press with the larger piston of diameter 35 cm at a heigth of 1.5 m relative to the smaller piston of diameter 10 cm. The mass on the smaller piston is 20 kg. What is the force exerted on the load placed. On the larger piston ? The density of oil in the press is 750 kg m^(-3)

Figure shows a hydraulic press which the larger piston of diameter 35 cm at a height of 1.5 m relative to the smaller piston of diameter 10 cm. The mass on the smaller piston is 20 kg. What is the force exerted on the load by the larger piston. The density of oil in the press is 750 kg//m^(3) . Takes g = 9.8 m//s^(2) .

A car is lifted by a hydraulic jack that consists of two pistons. The diameter of the larger piston is 2 m and that of the smaller piston is 50 cm. If the force applied on the smaller piston is 240 N, find the weight of the car.

An effort applied on the small piston of a hydraulic jack lifts the load through a distance of 50 cm and the effort is displaced through 2 m. If the diameter of the larger piston is 28 cm, calcualte the area of the cross section of the smaller piston.
