(a) By what factor must the sound intensity be increased the sound intensity level by `13.0 dB` ? (b) Explain why you do not need to know the original sound intersity ?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A, B

(a) `L_(2) - L_(1) = 10 log_(10) ((I_(2))/(I_(1)))`
`:. 13 = 10 log_(10) ((I_(2))/(I_(1)))`
Solving we get, `(I_(2))/(I_(1)) = 20` (b) From the above equation we can see that we do not need `L_(1)` and `l_(2)` separately.
