How can we make a galvanometer with G=20...

How can we make a galvanometer with `G=20 Omega` and `i_g=1.0 mA` into a voltmeter with a maximum range of `10 V`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Using `R=V/i_g-G`,
We have `R=10/10^-3-20`
`=9980Omega`
Thus a resistance of `9980 Omega` is to be connected in series with the galanometer to convert it into the voltmeter of desired range.
