A capacitor of capacitance C is given a ...

A capacitor of capacitance `C` is given a charge go. At time `t = 0` it is connected to an uncharged capacitor of equal capacitance through a resistance `R`. Find the charge on the first capacitor and the second capacitor as a function of time `t`. Also plot the corresponding q-t graphs.

The correct Answer is:
B

Both capacitors have equal capacitance. Hence half-half charge distribute over both the capacitors
`q_1=q_2=q_0/2`
`q_1` decreases exponentially from `q_0` to `q_0/2` while `q_2` increases exponentially from 0 to `q_0/2` lts Corresponding graphs and equations are given in the answer.
Time constant of two exponential equations will be
`tau_C=(C_(net))`
`R=(C/2)R=(CR)/2`
