In the circuit shown in figure `E_1, 2E_2=20V, R_1=R_2=10kOmega` and `C=1muF`. Find the current through `R_1,R_2` and `C` when

(a) `S` has been kept connected to `A` for a long time.
(b) The switch is suddenly shifted to `B`.

The correct Answer is:
A, C

a. After long time, capacitor gets fully charged by `E_1`
`:. i_C=0`
and `i_(R_1)=i_(R_2)=E_1/(R_1+R_2)`
`=20/(20xx10^3)`
`=10^-3A=1mA`
b. in steady state (with `E_1`).
`V_C=V_(R_2)=V_(R_1)`
`=E_1/2=10V`
Now when the switch is shifted to position B, capcitor (at `t=0`) behaves like a battery of 10 V.
The circuit in that case is as shown below.

Now, with the help of Kirchoff's laws we can find different currents., final currents are shown in the figure.
