An inductor is connected to a battery through a switch. The emf induced in the inductor is much larger when the switch is opened as compared to the emf induced when the switch is closed. Is this statement true or false?

The correct Answer is:
A

When switch is opened current suddenly decreasing from steady state value of zero. When switch is closed., it takes time to increase from 0 to steady state value.
`e=|L(/_\i)/(/_\t)|`
`/_\t` in second case is large. Hence, induced emf less.
