Two waves of equal frequencies have their amplitude in the ratio of 5:3. They are superimposed on each other. Calculate the ratio of the maximum to minimum intensities of the resultant wave.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`A_(max) = 5+3 = 8units`
`A_(min) = 5-3 =2units`
`A_(max)/A_(min) = 4`
`I_(max)/I_(min) = (4)^2 = 16`.
