Coherent light from a sodium-vapour lamp...

Coherent light from a sodium-vapour lamp is passed through a filter that blocks everything except for light of a single wavelength. It then falls on two slits separated by 0.460 mm. In the resulting interference pattern on a screen 2.20m away, adjacent bright fringes are separated by 2.82 mm. What is the wavelength ?

Text Solution

`because Omega = (lambdaD)/d`
`:. lambda = (omegad)/D = ((2.82 xx 10^-3)(0.46 xx 10^-3))/2.2 `
` = 0.589 xx 10^(6)` m
` ~~0.590nm`

In Young's double-slit experiment, monochromatic light of wavelength 630 nm illuminates the pair of slits prodcues an interference pattern in which two consecutive bright fringes are separated by 8.1 mm. Another source of monochromatic light produces the interference pattern in which the two consecutive bright fringes are separated by 7.2 mm. Find the wavelength of light for the second source. Laser light of wave length 600 nm incident on a pair of slits produces an interference pattern in which the bright fringes are separated by 8mm. A second light produces an interference pattern in which the fringes are separated by 12 mm. Calculate the wavelength of the second light.

The two slits in Young's double slit experiment are separated by a distance of 0.03 mm. An interference pattern is produced on a screen 1.5 m away. The 4th bright fringe is at a distance of 1 cm from the central maximum. Calculate the wavelength of light used.

In YDSE, slits are separated by 0.24 mm and the screen is kept 160 cm away from slits. If fringe width is measured to be 0.4 cm , calculate the wavelength of light used.
