Cis-`[PtCl_2(NH_3)_2]` is used as an anti-cancer agent, called as cisplatin and is highly toxic. On injecting, the more reactive Cl group are lost so the Pt atom bonds to a N atom in guanosine ( part of the DNA molecule). Those cells which are undergoing cell division are attacked by cisplatin.
