When a guitar is sounded with a 440 Hz tuning fork, a beat frequency of 5 Hz is heard. If the experiment is repeated with a tuning fork of 437 Hz, the beat frequency is 8 Hz. The string frequency (in Hz) is :-

A

445

B

435

C

429

D

448

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

`v-5=440 Hz`
`v-8=437Hz`
`:. V=445` Hz by both the methods.
It could have been `435` Hz. It would have satisfied `440-s=5`. But this would not have satisfied `437 Hz.`
