Strach ` (C_(6)H_(10)O_(5))_(n)` is plysaccharide. It consists of two fractions one is knwn as `alpha` amylose and the other is `beta`- amylose or amylopectin. In iodimetric and iodometric titractions, strach solution is used as an indicator. It gives blue or violent colour with free iodine. At the end point the blue or violet colour disappears when iodine is completely chnaged to iodide.
