Shape Selective Catalysis By Zeolites

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The catalystic reaction which depends upon the pore size of the catalyst and the size of the reactant and product molecules is called shape-selective catalysis. Zeolites are good shape-selective catalysts because of their honey comb like structures. ZSM-5 is used in petroeum industry to convert alcohols directly into gasoline by dehydrating them to give a mixture of hydrocarbons.
