What do you understand by activation of adsorption `: ` How is it achieved.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Activation of adsobent means, increasing the adsorbing power of an adsobent. This can be done by increasing the surface area of the adsobent which can be achieved in any of the following ways `:`
`a.` By removing the gases adsorbed, `i.e.,` wood charcoal can be activated by heating it between `650K` and `1330K` in vacuum or super heated steam.
`b.` By breaking the adsorbent into small pieces.
`c.` By making the surface of adsorbent rough.
