A flat car is given an acceleration a(0)...

A flat car is given an acceleration `a_(0)=2m//s^(2)` starting from rest. A cable is connected to a crate of weight `50kg` as shown whose other end is attached to a fixed support on ground. Neglect friction between the floor and the car wheels and also the mass of the pulley. Calculate corresponding tension in th cable if `mu=0.30` between the crate and the floor or the car.

A

350 N

B

250 N

C

300 N

D

zero

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

`f_(r_("max"))=0.3(50g)=150N rArr a_("car")=2m//s^(2)`
`"Required fricition force "=50(2)=100 N lt "fr"_("max")`
so there will be no tension

A car starts with constant acceleration a=2m//s^(2) at t=0. two coins are released from the car at t=3 and t=4 . Each coin takes 1 second to fall on ground. Then the distance between the two coins will be (Assume coin sticks to the ground)

A block of mass m = 2kg is accelerating by a force F = 20N applied on a smooth light pulley as shown in the figure. If the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the surface is mu=0.3 , find its acceleration.

A block of mass 2 kg is at rest on a floor . The coefficient of static friction between block and the floor is 0.54. A horizonatl force of 2.8 N is applied to the block . What should be the frictional force between the block and the floor ? ( take , g = 10 m//s^(2) )

A pulley fixed to the ceiling of an elevator car carries a thread whose ends are attached to the loads of masses 3m and m . The car starts gong up with acceleration g//s . Assuming the masses of the pulley and the thread, as well as friction, to be negligible, find the force exerted by the pulley on the ceiling of car.

A man of mass 85kg stands on one end of a uniform board of length 2m and mass 15kg. The other end is tied to the floor by a steel cable, and the board is supported from below just 0.5 m from the cable end (see figure).

two cars start moving from rest with uniform acceleration a=4 m//s^(2) and 8 m//s^(2) towards each other from points A and B. the distance between points is 96 m

A block of mass 2 kg, initially at rest on a horizontal floor, is now acted upon by a horizontal force of 10 N . The coefficient of friction between the block and the floor is 0.2. If g = 10 m//s^(2) , then :
