Assertion. Capacity of a parallel plate...

Assertion. Capacity of a parallel plate condenser remains unaffected on introduced a conducting or insulating slab between the plates.
Reason. In both the cases, electric field intensity between the plates increases.

A

If both assertion and reason are ture and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertin and reason are ture but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion .

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
D

If the medium between the plates of a capacitor is filled with an insulating substance , the electric field due to the charged plantes induces a net dipole moment in the dielectric . This give rise to field inside the capacitor decreases and hence the potential differecne between the plates is reduced. Consequently, the capacitance C increase form its value, when there is no medium.
