A.Multiple choice questions (MCQ) :
(i) If the angle of elevation of the top of a mobile tower from a distance of 10 metres from its foot is `60^(@)`, then height of the tower is

A

10 metres

B

`10sqrt(3)` metres

C

`(10)/(sqrt(3))`metres

D

100 metres

Text Solution

Let AB is the tower and C is at a distance of 10 metres from its foot B.
As per question, BC = 10 metres and `angleACB = 60^(@)`.
Now , from the right-angled triangle ABC we get,
`tan 60^(@) =(AB)/(BC)` [by defination]
or, `sqrt(3) = (AB)/(10)` or, `AB = 10sqrt(3)`
`therefore` the height of the tower is `10sqrt(3)` metres.
Hence (b) is correct,
