Consider a bob of mass 0.2 kg is performing linear SHM experiences a restoring force of 2 N when its displacement is 10 cm. Find the period of SHM.

A

1.34 s

B

0.314 s

C

0.942 s

D

0.628 s

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Given, mass m = 0.2 kg
force, F = 2 N
displacement, x = 10 cm = 0.1 m
We know that restoring force, F = -kx
`therefore" "k = (F)/(x)=(2)/(0.1)=20Nm^(-1)`
The period of SHM, `T = 2pi sqrt((m)/(k))`
`= 2 xx 3.14 xx sqrt((0.2)/(20))`
`rArr" "T = 0.628 s`
