What will be the length of mercury column in a barometer tube when the atmosperic pressure is `75 cm` of mercury and the tube is inclined at an angle of `60^@` with the horizontal direction?

Text Solution

The barametric height `h=75 cm`.
It `l` is the length of `h` mercury column in the tube, then if `l` is the length of the mercury column in the tube, then `h/l=sin60^@`
or `l=h/(sin60^@)=75/((sqrt(3)//2))=86.6cm`
