Blocks `A` and `B` each of mass `1kg` are moving with `4m//s` and `2m//s` respectively as shown. The coefficient of friction for all surface is `0.10`. Find the distance (in m) by which centre of mass will travell before coming to rest. Assume large distance between the blocks

The correct Answer is:
3

Retardation of each block:
`a=mug=0.10xx10=1ms^2`
Distance travelled by A before it stops:
`x_1=u_1^2/(2a)=4^2/(2xx10=8m`
Distance travelled by B befoe it stops:
`x_2=u_2^2/(2a)=2^2/(2xx10=2m`
`/_\x_(CM)=(m_1x_1-m_2x_2)/(m_1+m_2)=(1xx8-1xx2)/(1+1)=3m`
