Mention the conditions required to maximise the yield of ammonia.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ammonia is produced by Haber's process as.
`N_(2)(g)+3H_(2)(g)overset("Fe.Mo")overset(700"K",200" atm")iff2"NH"_(3)(g)DeltaH^(@)=-46.1" k.J mol"^(-1)`
Yield of ammonia is favoured by high pressure accorrding to Le-Chatelier's principle, Other conditions, that favour the production of ammonia are as follows :
i) Temperature - approximately 700 K
ii) Pressure - 200 atm or `200xx10^(5)` Pa
iii) Catalyst - Iron oxide
iv) Promotor - Molybdenum of `K_(2)O` and `"Al"_(2)O_(3)`
