Explain the catalytic action of enzyme as drug targets.

a)Catalytic action of Enzymes:In the enzyme catalytic activituy it performs two funcrtions i)The first function of an enzyme is to hold the substrate for a chemical reaction.Subtrate bind to active site of enzyme through ionic bonding,hydrogen bonding vander wall force etc. ii)The second function of an enzyme is to provide functional groups that will attack the substrate and carry out the chemical reaction.
Drug-Enzyme interaction: i)Drugs which inhibit the catalytic activity of the enzymes are called enzyme inhibitors.
ii) Drugs which compete with the substrate for their attachment on active sites of enzymes are cal,led competitive inhibitors.
