What is the force on a conductor of length L carrying a current ''I'' placed in a magnetic field of induction B ? When does it become maximum ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

i) Force on a conductor (F) `=B I L sin theta`
ii) If `theta = 90^(@), F_("Max")= B I L` i.e., the direction of current and magnetic field are perpendicular to each other, then force is maximum.
