Why are de Broglie waves associated with a moving football is not apparent to us?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The value of de Broglie wavlength associated with a moving particle is given by
`lamda=(h)/(mv)`
Consider a ball of 0.5 kg moving with a velocity of `10ms^-1` It is an object from our daily observation. The de Broglie wavelength of the ball will be
`lamda=(6.625xx10^-34)/(0.5xx10)=13.25xx10^-34m`
The value of `lamda` is very small as compared to the size a ball of 0.5 kg would possess. Hence. wave nature of matter is not apparent in our daily observation.
