The electric mains in a house are marked 220V-50Hz. Write down the equation for instantaneous voltage.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here 220 V is rms voltage. So peak voltage is `220sqrt(2)V`.
Instantaneous voltage is given by
`E=E_(0) sin (onega t+phi)=220sqrt(2)sin (2 pi 50 t+phi)`
`=220sqrt(2)sin(100 pi t + phi)`.
